At the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, our wide-ranging research has a lasting impact across Kentucky and beyond. We have a history of being at the forefront of technologies now widely adopted across the world, and our programs continue to lead the way now and into the future.

The Martin-Gatton CAFE has contributed to great advancements in Kentucky, particularly in our leading industry—agriculture. Our research improves utilization and conservation of resources, increases yields of crops and livestock, improves management of capital and labor, expands markets and finds solutions for problems facing rural communities.

Increased returns to Kentucky farmers total millions of dollars annually just from the use of new production technologies resulting from our research and educational programs. Below are just a few examples of the impact of our college’s important research. Visit our departments to learn more about their specific research areas.
