The Kentucky Agriculture Training School (KATS) is offering an interactive crop scouting clinic at the University of Kentucky Research and Education Center on Thursday, May 28. According to coordinator Lori Rogers, the program will be beneficial for producers and scouts of all experience levels.
“This hands-on workshop is ideal for agriculture interns, new ag agents and producers, and it can serve as a refresher for others as the growing season is getting started,” Rogers said.
From 8:30 am to 3:30 pm CT, participants will learn to scout for corn and soybean diseases and insects and identify corn and soybean growth stages and weeds. Soil nutrients and their influence on crop growth will also be showcased.
Educational credits have been requested for certified crop advisors and pesticide applicators. Last year's credits:
- CCA - 6.5 CEUs
- Pesticide - 5 CEUs for Category 1A, 1 CEU for Category 10
The clinic will be held at 300 Extension Farm Road, Princeton, Kentucky. Participants are encouraged to dress for outdoor fieldwork. Lunch will be provided.
