Professional Profile

Korie Burgess serves as an Academic Advisor in the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment and advises students majoring in Equine Science and Management. In this position, Korie assists with orientation, registration, enrollment, and retention efforts. Korie strives to provide holistic-centered advising and advocates for her students. She prides herself on making meaningful connections with students and supports their individual needs throughout their college experience. 

Korie attended Auburn University and received her Bachelor's of Science in Agriscience Education. She is a licensed 7-12 educator but wanted to expand her impact to the college level. During her time at Auburn, she served as an orientation leader, Agriscience Education Ambassador, National Teach Ag Ambassador, and completed undergraduate research focused on the retention of agriculture educators in the state of Alabama. 

After completing her undergraduate degree, Korie moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to begin her graduate degree in Agriculture and Extension Education and Evalution at Louisiana State University. During her first year, she served as a graduate assistant for the AEEE department and assisted with teaching, research, and programmatic duties. In her second year, Korie transitioned into extension and was the graduate assistant for Louisiana 4-H. During this time, she assisted with enrollment management, event registration, and programming logistics. 

Now at UK, Korie enjoys connecting with students and watching their growth throughout their college experience. When she is not advising, she can be found teaching AFE 100 (Issues in Agriculture, Food and Environment), advising for a student organization, and volunteering at a Food Bank in her local community.
