Agricultural Economics

The scope of agricultural economics might be broader than you think. Our faculty and students explore the entire farm-to-fork food system, environmental and natural resources issues, and local and international economic development.

Animal and Food Sciences

We study and apply the principles of nutrition, reproduction and genetics to the production and management of domesticated animals.

Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering

We educate engineers who ensure the world has clean water systems, adequate food production and sustainable energy sources.

Community and Leadership Development

We offer programs to meet you wherever you are in your educational journey. Our faculty has strong disciplinary training in such fields as communication, education and rural sociology.

Dietetics and Human Nutrition

We promote healthy lifestyles through sustainable, nutritionally sound food choices and physical activity; enhance well‐being through meaningful experiences; and expand economic opportunity by generating and sharing knowledge.

Entomology

The Department of Entomology at UK is one of the top 10 entomology programs in the U.S. We offer three graduate degrees in entomology, and undergraduates may choose to minor in entomology or pursue a B.S. in agriculture with an emphasis in entomology.

Family Sciences

The Department of Family Sciences is improving the lives of children, adolescents, couples and families in Kentucky, the nation and the world through evidence-based education, cutting-edge research and community engagement.

Forestry and Natural Resources

Our department operates through its three land-grant missions—extension, research and teaching—to develop solutions for the critical issues facing our woodlands today and in the future.

Horticulture

Our mission is to discover new knowledge, develop and evaluate new technologies and appropriate use of environmental resources for horticultural crop production and utilization, and deliver information to clientele to improve quality of life.

School of Human Environmental Sciences

We improve the quality of life of individuals and families in Kentucky and the nation through academic programs, cutting-edge research and community engagement.

Landscape Architecture

Landscape architecture involves the design of sustainable communities, the experiential quality of place, and the thoughtful stewardship of land. It is the art and science of designing, planning and managing the natural and built environments.

Plant and Soil Sciences

Our programs are diverse in both our mission areas—teaching, research and extension—and in our broad areas of interest—crop science, environmental science, plant molecular biology and soil science.

Plant Pathology

One of the leading departments of plant pathology in the country and the world, we focus on fundamental research, while keeping “one foot in the furrow” by helping Kentucky’s agricultural community combat plant diseases.

Retailing and Tourism Management

Our goal is to blend creativity and business components to provide the most current application of technology and professional strategies used in service industries.

Veterinary Science

Our faculty provide world expertise in research and diagnostics and educate the next generation of equine scientists. Our mission is to assure the health and viability of animal agriculture through teaching, discovery, research and service.
