Why did you choose your program, and how does your program contribute to your career goals?
I chose animal science because I have a passion of animals and agriculture. I always knew I wanted to be a part of agriculture, and majoring in animal science is the best fit for me. While I am unsure of the exact career I would like to go in, majoring in animal science will help provide me the tools to be successful in any career. Currently I picture working for an animal health or animal product company and getting to work in the business side with customers and attend trade shows.
What's been your favorite course and why?
My favorite course so far has been ASC 101. I took this class first semester of freshman year. ASC 101 is the animal science introductory course. It was the first class for my major. I enjoyed getting to learn new things and create a foundation in my learning. In the lab section of the course I was able to experience weekly hands-on learning that was connected to the lecture. It was exciting to experience different skeletal structures, dissections and nutrients first hand.
Have you completed an internship, job or been involved with a club that has been especially meaningful to you?
The UK Eventing Team has been an amazing part of my time at UK. I came to college without my horse but I knew I still wanted to incorporate horses in my college experience. The UK Eventing Team opened its arms to new members and makes everyone feel welcome. I have been able to meet so many kind and friendly students from all over the U.S. We all share the common interest of eventing. While I have only been a social member of the team, that has not stopped me from any opportunities UK Eventing has to offer.

Why did you choose UK?
I was drawn to the University of Kentucky for its location in the Horse Capital of the World. I had traveled to Lexington numerous times to spectate and compete at the Kentucky Horse Park. I loved the endless opportunities I experienced at the Kentucky Horse Park and I knew Lexington as a whole had so much to offer. I came to UK to be involved in the Martin-Gatton CAFE and major in animal science. I knew the college had a lot to offer to further my education and I knew the opportunities I would have in the Lexington area would be second to none.
